Guest poster: Oskar Goes to the Vet, 1

This morning was my turn to go to the vet.  It's a little hard for me to get into the car these days.

Once I'm in the car hammock, though, I'm ready to roll.

There was traffic on Three Oaks Road this morning.  Instead of going 45, we were held to 25.  Johanna got a little bit testy.

At the coffee shop (which Johanna was in a hurry to reach), we saw the man who always walks two Pugs.  He only had one today, but it turns out the other one does not like snow so she'd stayed home.  I carried on a conversation with them while Johanna got coffee.

At Sawyer Road we discovered part of the traffic problem.  Red Arrow Highway was loaded up with semi trucks re-routed off of I-94.  Later we heard there had been an accident and the interstate was closed for a while.  Luckily, we do not take the interstate to reach the vet!

Glad you made it in good shape Oskar! Right before New Buffalo, this truck fishtailed then flew off into the ditch in front of me, then I saw a big pile up that just occurred in front of me near Union Pier so I quickly jumped off on the exit and took Red Arrow all the way - and then there was the car in the pond at the rest stop. It was nasty out there!

That was cute. Oskar is a nice looking doggy. I'm jealous of the snow. We don't get much here in Eastern NC. :(

looking at the wall behind the man with the dog ( your coffee stop ) we see a FOR SALE sign posted - we thought that was a going establishment. didn't the current owner rehab and reopen recently ? at the corner of warren woods road and three oaks boulevard ??

Good eye! Yes, it was purchased and reopened a few years ago, and now they would like to sell it. It's actually had that sign for at least a full year if not longer. I can't imagine that there's much market for that kind of business -- basically working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. They're nice people and I wish them well.

I just started following your blog, since I caught your peanut brittle recipe over at Chickens in the Road. I was reading back through some of your posts, and saw the one where you talked about those 50 mile an hour winds and lots of snow, and thought, "Hmmm - I can relate. We had weather like that last week, too."

Then I read this post, I was like AAAH! - I know where Red Arrow Highway is, and I drive I-94 every day! Howdy neighbor - I'm over in Augusta, just east of Kalamazoo. :)

Hello Kristen! I lived in Kalamazoo many years ago -- being familiar with SW Michigan made moving up here the logical choice when I left Chicago. Visit us again!

I'll be back for sure. Thanks for the welcome, Johanna!
